I am a Jesus Pusher! “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19). The subject of “the kingdom of heaven,” is mentioned twice in our passage, and is directly connected to each possible situation suggested by Jesus. This subject is not mentioned from the last Beatitude (Matthew 5:10) to our passage (Matthew 5:19). Jesus began the Beatitudes with the subject of the Kingdom (Matthew 5:3), and He ended the Beatitudes with the same subject (Matthew 5:10). Now He ties it directly to our relationship with the Scriptures. As He discusses the Scriptures, Jesus reflects on “the kingdom of heaven” formed in the Beatitudes. Could it be that the Scriptures are the heart of the Kingdom?
The Kingdom of Heaven is not a location but a relationship. Heaven is a real place, and eternity will find us living there. The Kingdom of Heaven is a spiritual intimacy between God and man. In the Kingdom language, Jesus is the King. He is not the kind of King as seen in our world. Jesus is King in the style of the Kingdom, a bleeding, suffering, and dying King. Jesus is the Servant King! He wants to provide, source, and supply every need in our lives. His plan is always for our best; He has no selfish angle. Everything promised in the Scriptures is in Jesus, and Jesus is in us! The new creature, the Kingdom person, experiences the fulfillment of the Scriptures. I am a Jesus Pusher!
