I am a Jesus pusher!!! But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgement” (Matthew 5:22). This passage is a part of the “Application Speaking” of Jesus (Matthew 5:21-26). Jesus applies the premise of the Sermon on the Mount, linking our relationship with God to our relationship with our fellowmen. His application is not about how we outwardly treat them but how we inwardly feel about them.
Jesus continued to illustrate this truth in an “Adornment Speaking.” He placed the truth in the middle of their daily hour of prayer and sacrificial offerings (Matthew 5:23-24). The implication is that our religious activities supersede our relationship with others. Our relationship with others overrides the importance of our duty to God. In other words, our commitment to God is to express His heart to our fellowmen. He plants this truth in the middle of an argument over practical matters, which might take you to court (Matthew 5:25, 26). Live in inner peace and let this peace flow to your circumstances. Jesus is not proposing that we must never have an adversary but that we must never be one! These would be impossible and frightening proposals except for the reality of the “Formation of the Kingdom” (Matthew 5:3-12). God fills our helplessness with His resource. As the fullness of the Spirit produced this through Jesus, He will do this through us. We become one with the Spirit of Jesus, forming a new creature, the Kingdom person! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
