I am a Jesus pusher!!! “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder’” (Matthew 5:21). Jesus starts His six illustrations with murder because it is rebellion against the image of God. Murder is an attempt to abolish the physical expression of the relationship between God and man. For this reason, Jesus quickly moves into the spiritual application of this physical act. Anger has the same result as murder; therefore, anger equals murder. It abolishes relationships. This result is and has always been the demonic desire. Jesus said, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer (manslayer) from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth” (John 8:44). It seems the devil’s single desire is to destroy the image of God that continually confronts him in every human being. In our fallen nature (carnal mind), we share the nature Satan personifies. Murder, anger, and hate flow from our heart’s center, attempting to abolish all evidence of the image of God around us.
Jesus calls us to the merge Adam had with God. That is our destiny! God wants to fill us with Himself, so we might express His invisible image to our world. While murdering another may eliminate that person’s expression, anger and hate in me eliminates His image through me! We do not express His attributes such as omnipresence or omniscience. We express who God is, His image! His holy nature merges with us to form a new creature. The Spirit of Jesus and I become one! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
