I am a Jesus pusher!!! Jesus proposed that the truth of the Scriptures would move us from a physical ASSOCIATION to a spiritual ATTACHMENT (Matthew 5:23-24). Jesus addressed His disciples and many common Jews. They participated daily in an animal sacrifice to God. The significance of this sacrifice contains the spiritual type or symbol it represented. It was not the physical act of killing an animal that brought them into the presence of God. The attitude of acceptance, belief, and the embrace of the spiritual value symbolized in the act is the heart of the matter!
This attitude is why Jesus interrupted our physical association (whatever it may be) and pointed us to our attitude toward each other. God is not interested in a physical routine of worship. Is He thrilled with how high we raise our hands in praise? Is the issue how loud you sing or shout His name? If you and I do not embrace His heart as we sing His name on Sunday, we are the same as the one cursing His name on Monday. Moreover, if we have the right spiritual attitude in bringing our sacrifice to Him, He will convict us of any wrong attitude toward our brother. In other words, there is no way to have a proper attitude toward God in worship and maintain a bad attitude toward each other. We cannot overlook this conflict. God will continually remind us of how He feels about our brother.
Can we begin with ourselves? Do I have the mind of Christ? Is my attitude towards those around me the attitude of Christ? I must merge with Him. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
