I am a Jesus pusher!!! “But I say to you that whoever is anger with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matthew 5:22). The third sentence in our passage is the climax. “But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matthew 5:22). This sentence has the same grammar structure as the second statement. The Greek verb, “epo,” translated says, is in the active voice and subjunctive mood and also has the primary participle “an,” strengthening the subjunctive mood. Jesus emphasized the tongue’s action as it speaks what is in the heart.
The Greek word “moros” is translated as “You fool!” It means “silly, stupid, or foolish.” The English word “moron” is derived from this Greek word. Although there is a similarity between “Raca” (rhaka) and “You fool” (moros), there is some distinction. “You fool” is a more severe reproach from “Raca.” “Raca” scorns a person by calling them stupid. “You fool” (moros) scorns the person about their heart and character. One is a focus on the intellectual status of the person; the other is a focus on the moral and spiritual condition of the person. The same Greek word (moros) is used in the closing parable of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:24-27). Jesus said, “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man” (Matthew 7:26). He is a “moros,” “foolish man.” I can only know my destiny and recognize the destiny of others when I am merged with His nature. I must know Him. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
