I am a Jesus pusher!!!Jesus suggests the act of bringing your gift to the altar in each of these verses (Matthew 5:23-24). The procedure of bringing a gift to the altar focused on a particular aspect of religious worship, a solemn moment when a person casts himself on divine mercy. In making his offering, he seeks divine forgiveness. The person casts himself on divine mercy, and in this solemn moment, we remember!
When we focus on worship, we raise our hands in openness and surrender as our hearts and minds realize Jesus’ worthiness. He catches our emotions as we become aware of His presence. Nothing matters but Jesus! In this moment, Jesus speaks, and we remember. Or the body of Christ gathers to concentrate on hearing the voice of God. The Word of God captures us. In this sacred moment when we expose the Word of God, Jesus speaks, and we remember. Or, our desperate need drives us to our knees, and we seek Jesus in a moment of prayer. We are alone with no distractions. We express our deepest heart’s cry to Him. He leaves us with nothing but surrender and dependence on His divine resource. In this moment, Jesus speaks, and we remember.
You must select which imagery of your sacrifice brought to the altar applies best. Whatever you choose is your moment of revelation and acceptance. If Jesus is going to be real to you, it is in this moment. The true heart of Jesus will tell you what He cares most about and how He feels. Whatever situation you have chosen, it is “and there remember.” The Greek word “kakei,” translated and there, specifically points to a place. Jesus highlighted this truth. When you come close to God’s heart, He reveals your conflict with your brother. You must be a Jesus pusher!!!
