I am a Jesus pusher!!! The Scriptures equate physical sexuality with spirituality in an unexplainable yet consistently highlighted realm. Paul applied oneness with Jesus as being filled with the Holy Spirit, calling everyone to submit to this union. Practically applied, submitting to God is submitting to one another. He started with, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22). A wife’s submission to her husband is not because she is submitted to God. Still, in her daily walk, as she submits to her husband in the physical, she is submitting to God in the spiritual.
Husbands are not in a superior position because they are to submit to their wives as Christ submitted to the Church. Practically applied, this submission is to be, “Just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:25-26). In fact, “Husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself” (Ephesians 5:28). The sexualities of the husband and wife merge until they are one. Paul then quotes God, saying, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Ephesians 5:31). What is the fabric of this oneness? Paul said, “This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32). The joining of the husband and wife in their sexuality is a mystery like the joining of Jesus and His Church, the believer. The sexuality of marriage engages the spiritual world in its oneness! This concept explains the belief that marriage is not complete unless God is involved. Marriage is a spiritual union between God, the bride, and the bridegroom. Sexual intercourse is not a physical act but an encounter with the unseen spiritual world. I am the bride of Christ! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
