I am a Jesus pusher!!! Jesus addresses my sexuality (Matthew 5:27-30). There are only four verses in His explanation. Two of those verses view the extreme severity and seriousness of our sexuality (Matthew 5:29, 30). There is a direct correlation between my physical sexuality and my spiritual life! Those who have experienced spiritual warfare realize this reality. A study of the cities of pagan worship in the New Testament epistles reveals this truth. These pagan centers involved sexual activities because they believed the sexual ecstasy they had with temple prostitutes created a better union with their god. In the world of spiritual warfare, it is well known that the best way to pass demons from one person to another is through sexual intercourse. In the sexual union, the two people involved touch the spiritual reality of the other. Can you imagine what God intended in marriage? No wonder Paul called this intimate connection a mystery.
Now carefully read the words of Paul to the Church of Corinth. “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ‘the two,’ He says, ‘shall become one flesh.’ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:15-17). The Greek word “kollao,” translated as “is joined,” means “to glue” or “to weld.” The language Paul used for sexual oneness is the language used for oneness with Jesus. What a mystery!
