I am a Jesus pusher!!! Through the fall into sin, we not only have a shift in “purpose” but also a shift in PERFORMANCE. Sexuality is never just physical activity. God designed the physical realm to be a platform for the demonstration of the spiritual nature of man. Although his physical deed cannot judge the essence of man, his physical deeds demonstrate who he is. We see this in relation to God! Paul declared that the physical creation of the world gives clear evidence of God’s “invisible attributes” (Romans 1:20). We can see His eternal power and Godhead manifested in Jesus. The eternal Word, God, “became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). “He is the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15).
“Those of old” were concerned only with the physical activities of their sexuality. They saw their sexuality as an animal drive isolated from their spiritual life. They needed to control and limit it within the boundaries of the proper physical activity of marriage. Jesus expressed a view far beyond controlling performance. He asked, “What is the expression of the spirit interacting with your flesh?” The sexual act of marriage gives physical expression to the oneness (glued or welded) between man and the one who is “bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh.” We lost this view, but Jesus came. He does not desire a mere change in physical activities but in the vision of our soul! Only Jesus can restore this through the merger with us. Jesus must fill me with Himself. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
