I am a Jesus pusher!!! We see in the Garden of Eden that Adam was the crowning creation of God, placed in the garden with a command. “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). Adam’s only relationship was with God because Eve had not yet been created. After he had named all the animals and tended the garden for a while, God became aware that His man was not complete in his sexuality. He put Adam to sleep and created woman out of His man. One day the devil had a conversation with Eve. They discussed the commandment that Eve had heard from Adam. Adam must have been present for this conversation because Eve ate of the fruit and “gave to her husband with her” (Genesis 3:6). Regardless of what Eve’s temptation might have been, sexuality was involved in Adam’s temptation. He could not conceive of living without her, and Adam made a choice between God and Eve. He gave up the embrace and sacrificed the oneness he had with God for what he thought was oneness with Eve.
Adam’s blindness was the tragedy. He did not realize that without oneness with God, he could not have oneness with Eve. When Adam separated from God there was a separation between male and female. You have to give this careful consideration! Man was created in the image of God, and the woman was created out of the man. When man separated from his oneness with God, his oneness with the female could not continue. It is only because Adam had oneness with God that he could have oneness with Eve, his flesh. Without oneness with God, their oneness with each other deteriorated to a self-satisfying use of each other, resulting in competition and jealousy. The masculine human, being the strongest, now dominates and abuses. The feminine human becomes a tool or instrument for the man’s service and pleasure. God created sexuality to complete the man, but without God the destructive force of evil makes man incomplete. What has Adam done? He has chosen sexuality over God. The destruction of this priority entered his home, his life, his children, and his world. And we have often done the same. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
