Jesus Pusher 816

I am a Jesus pusher!!! Listen to our passage again. “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). Included in this statement, Jesus speaks of looking “at her,” lusting “for her,” and committing adultery “with her,” as He highlights the priority of our sexuality. The Greek word “pros,” translated “at,” is a preposition of direction. This word marks the direction toward or to which something moves or is directed. It carries the idea of “in order to,” expressing purpose. Man looks at woman with a distinct perspective in mind. The priority of his life has now become the focus of his “looking.” He is dominated by this focus in every aspect of his sexuality.

The Greek word “autos,” translated “for her,” is a pronoun of “self” used as an intensive to emphasize, and sets the woman apart from everything else. “Autos” is used with a proper name as “Herod himself” (Mark 6:17). Jesus again uses “autos,” translated “with her,” focusing everything on the woman. Each time he use “autos” He highlights “looking.” Jesus points out that the intent and purpose of man’s sexuality has changed in priority. Man no longer has the original nature God created him nature. His focus is altered! Rather than focusing on God, our focus is upon self and our desires. Again, our focus is misplaced—Jesus (not our selves) must become our focus. He is the only hope we have. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
