I am a Jesus pusher!!! We often hear the statement, “I am no angel.” It is an excuse to cover all those things of which we are not proud. Perhaps you should be grateful you are not an angel. It is amazing to contemplate the sin of one angel who had a following of one third of all the angels (Revelation 12:9; Isaiah 14:12; Luke 10:18). He sinned; God brought immediate judgment upon him. No plan of redemption was launched. Yet when man sinned God at great risk planned a restoration. But we are made a little lower than the angels (Hebrews 2:7). Why would God redeem us and not the fallen angels?
It has to do with the original purpose of God for mankind. Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness,” (Genesis 1:26). His image must be understood in a relational context. It has to do with the source of our life. Mankind, not angels, is capable of being filled with and sourced by God. The image of the invisible God is Jesus, a Spirit-sourced Man, not an angel (Colossians 1:15). Mankind has been destined by God for this role. God’s original purpose for our creation was to demonstrate His heart and character. Angels are destined to aid mankind in this demonstration, but they are not the demonstration. To be the sourced by God is to be like Christ; to be like Christ is to be in the image of God. As Jesus demonstrated His Father so we demonstrate Jesus. Thus, I am a Jesus pusher!!!
