I am a Jesus pusher!!! Peter declared, “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ,” (Acts 2:36). Jesus is God! The wonder of redemption is that He gave up what He HAD as God to become man. As a total man He was sourced by the Spirit of God. This is Peter’s explanation of Pentecost. In this final statement Peter exclaims that even His position as both Lord and Christ is sourced by God. Notice these two ideas are totally inseparable. He cannot be Lord without being Christ. They cannot be separated in experience or in theology. The actual Greek text states, “kai kurion auton kai Christon.” When translated literally it reads, “and Lord self and Christ.” There is a double linkage of the two titles, Lord and Christ. This is done by the Greek word (kai) translated both. The same Greek word (kai) is then inserted between the two titles. Notice also the Greek word (auton) which is not normally translated. It is a pronoun of the “self.” It is used to intensify the statement or emphasis. Jesus Himself is both Lord and Christ. He is not sometimes one and then the other. He is always both all the time.
We must not allow the separation of these two. Jesus cannot be my Christ (Savior) without being my Lord. Jesus will not save me from my sins, and allow me to maintain ownership of my own life. Salvation always places me in the Kingdom where the Lord reigns. I want to embrace Him as He is. He is worthy of this in my life. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
