Jesus Pusher 93

I am a Jesus pusher!!! The Lordship of Jesus is not a secondary or additional issue in our relationship to Him. It is a salvation issue. The difficulty in our understanding seems to be in the area of surrender. I can surrender all to Jesus now; but it is always what I know at that point in time. Surrender is never stagnant, but always expanding. As I grow in Christ my surrender must grow as well. Jesus reveals truth to me which expands my embrace of Him. This means I am totally surrendered today; I must also be totally surrendered tomorrow. My surrender must expand to truth revealed tomorrow. There is never a time I can be less than totally surrendered and be Christian.

The writer of the Book of Hebrews illustrated this truth. In describing Jesus, he said, “Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered,” (Hebrews 5:8). Bible scholars relate this statement to Jesus’ experience in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was never disobedient. He was always totally surrendered to the Father. However, in the garden, He moved into a situation never before experienced. His “total surrender of yesterday” must expand to embrace this new experience in order to be “totally surrendered today.” This is the continual experience of our relationship with Jesus. There is no place of arrival. At the beginning of the relationship, Jesus is Lord; the continuation of the relationship means Jesus is Lord. If I am filled with the nature of Jesus, I will experience who He is! He is both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36). I am a Jesus pusher!!!
